Message Of The Day

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Love Truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you Smile.

Apples. . .

------------------Girls-------------------

------are like apples--------

-----on trees. The best ones-------

---are at the top of the tree.--------

--The boys don't want to reach-----

--for the good ones because they--

-r afraid of falling and getting hurt.-

-Instead, they get the rotten apples-

from the ground that aren't as good,

but easy. So the apples up top think

something is wrong with them when in-

-reality they're amazing. They just--

---have to wait for the right boy to

---- come along, the one who's-

----------- brave enough to-----------

------------climb all-------------

------------the way------------

------------to the top--------

------------of the tree.---------

A Strong Women. . .

A strong woman

is one who feels deeply and loves fiercely. Her tears flow just as abundantly as her laughter. She is not afraid to be afraid.

A strong woman

is both soft and powerful. She takes compliments to heart and treats herself like the queen that she is.

A strong woman

is equally visionary and decisive. She is able to hope when things look hopeless. She is both practical and spiritual.

A strong woman

in her essenceis a gift to all the world

Very Scary

A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday. The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis. Rat urine contains toxic and deadly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them. The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned. A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i .e.) full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.

This is sosososo True !!!!!!!!

VERY SAD! YOU WILL WANT TO CRY.

It's about a Muslim man named Rashid. He says ..
"I was not a practising Muslim, I had bad friends. I enjoyed going out with them. I was almost never home, but always at gatherings with friends, in these gatherings we backbited, gossiped and made fun of ppl. I was especially known among my friends to make jokes and ppl were impressed by the way I was so good at it.
One night (at the time I was 30 and married and my wife was pregnant with our 1st child) I was as usual gathered with my friends and talking useless talk. I was telling them how I was at the market one day and I saw a blind man and I put my leg out in front of this man and the blind man tripped and fell on his face. My friends laughed and so on. When I went back home that night, my wife told me 'where have u been?' 'I am so tired and sick and I think I am in labor.' A tear dropped down her cheek. I felt guilty, for I hadn't cared about my wife properly. I quickly took her to the hospital. She was in pain for a long time and could not give birth, I waited patiently, but eventually I left and told the hospital to call me when she gave birth.
An hour later, they called telling me my wife had given birth to baby boy named Salem. I quickly went to the hospital. I asked which room my wife was in. They told me I 1st had to see the doctor. I got mad at them and said "What doctor? I want to see my son!?!" they insisted that I see the doctor first. So I went to the doctor, she first talked to me about calamities and that one must accept the will (qadar) of Allah.
Then she told me, 'your son is blind!' My lowered my head and remembered the blind man I tripped and made fun of I didn't know what to say, I thanked the doctor for her kindness and went to see my wife. My wife was not sad, rather she accepted the will of Allah (swt). She had always advised me not to make fun of ppl and not to gossip and backbite.
We left the hospital. I did not care about Salem, I did not like him, I pretended that he wasn't even in the house. But, my wife loved Salem very much and cared for him. Salem grew and he began to crawl, he wasn't crawling properly. When he began to walk, we discovered that he was handicapped. This was too much for me.
Later, my wife gave birth to 2 boys, Omar and Khalid. Years passed, Salem and his brothers grew. I continued to hang out with my bad friends and did not like to be at home. However, my wife was patient with me and she always made dua that Allah guide me.
One Friday, I woke up at 11 am (which was early for me) and was getting ready to go to a walimah (I did not go to Jummah). I got dressed, put on a sweater, and was about to head out the door when I saw Salem (who was 10 yrs old) crying very loudly in the living room. So, for the first time in 10 years I cared and went to ask him why he was>crying. When Salem felt me coming near, he stopped crying and pushed me away as if to say, "Now you care, where were you for the past 10 yrs!" Salem was calling his mother and brothers, but no one was answering him, so he went to his room. I followed him. At first, he would not tell me why he was crying. Do you know why he was crying? His brother Omar, who normally took him to the masjid, was late. Salem was afraid that since it was a Friday, he would not be able to get a spot in the front row at the mosque.
I said, "is thaT why you cried Salem?" Salem answered positively. I, out of disbelief from what I heard, forgot about my friends and the walimah. I then told Salem that I would take him to the mosque. Salem could not believe what he had heard. He thought his father was mocking him. He then began to cry. I wiped Salem's tears and took him by his hand to take him to the car.
Salem refused. He said the mosque is near, and he wants to walk there by foot. I could not remember the last time I went to the mosque. The mosque was full, but I was able to find a spot for Salem in the first row.
After prayer was over, Salem asked me to get him a copy of the Quran. I thought, 'how can he want a Quran if he is blind!!!!' so I gave him one anyway so that his feelings would not be hurt. Salem then asked me to open to surat al-kahf. So when I opened it for him, Salem began to recite. He had memorized the entire surah.
I felt embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I took a Quran and began to read. I asked Allah for forgiveness and guidance. I then began to sob like a child. There were still people in the mosque, so I tried to hide my tears.. I couldn't. I began to sob loudly. I felt a small hand wiping my tears away. It was Salem. He hugged me and I thought, 'you aren't the blind one, for I am, because I ran after the evil people who would drag me into hell-fire.'
From that day on I never missed a prayer at the mosque. My wife was really happy. I left all my bad friends and tasted the sweetness of eman. I went to halaqas. I became closer to Allah and to my family. I thanked Allah for this great blessing. One day my pious friends decided to go to a far away place to make dawah. I hesitated about going, I made istikharah and asked my wife, to my surprise she encouraged me to go. She was so happy, for before I used to travel w/o asking her.
I told Salem that I would be traveling, he hugged me with his tiny arms, bidding me farewell. I was away for 3 months and I would call my family and I missed them greatly, especially Salem. Whenever, I called I would ask for him but he was either at school or the mosque. Everytime I told my wife how much I missed him, she would laugh cheerfully. Except for the last call, she did not laugh but her voice had changed. I told her to say salam to Salem and she said "Insha Allah" and was quiet.
I finally came back home and hoped Salem would open the door for me, but Khaled did. Then I saw my wife, her face had changed. I asked her "what's wrong?" she replied "nothing." Then I remembered Salem, and asked "where is he?" My wife lowered her head and did not answer. A tear dropped down her cheek. I screamed at her, "where's Salem, where is he?'" My son Khaled (4 yrs old), said "Daddy, Thalem went to Jannah, he is with Allah." My wife could not handle it and she broke down in tears and left the room.. I found out later that Salem had got sick with a fever and went to hospital 2 weeks before I arrived. The fever worsened and his mother stayed by his side and until his soul departed his body.
"NEVER TAKE ANYONE FOR GRANTED; YOU MAY NOT REALISE HOW LITTLE TIME WE HAVE LEFT.
EVEN THE SMALLEST/WEAKEST PERSON IN THIS WORLD CAN MAKE AN IMPACT; AFTER ALL WE ALL SHARE THE SAME CREATOR MAY THE ALMIGHTY MAKE US HUMBLE INSHALLAH

Animal Farm

Animal Farm was a satirical fable written by George Orwell. The fable was written in light of the Russian revolution. The book starts off with a dream that Old major had. The ideal was of 'Animalism' i.e. the freedom of the animals from oppression by humans. This ideal is brought to life by the animals. From the start, the pigs assume authority. With their authority they begin having more privileges over the other animals. The initial course begins to alter. Orwell is showing how people in authority change their motives and interprets situations differently for personal gain. This shows that power is very corrupting. Greed is a very nasty thing. He is telling us that a classless and totally equal society can never be established. Also, people are gullible (in this instance shown through the animals). Thus far the novel has been very intense, informative and a mind opener.

CRISIS-WILL THEY EVER END?

PROPAGANDA

Literal meaning: Propaganda is a concerted set of the messages aimed at influencing the opinions or behavior of large numbers of the people. Instead of impartially providing information, propaganda in its most of the basic sense presents information in order to influence its audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or gives loaded messages in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the cognitive narrative of the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda

Origination: The word originates from the Latin name
Congregatio de Propaganda Fide ("Congregation for the Spreading of the Faith") of a congregation founded by Pope Gregory V in 1422, shortly after the start of the Children's Crusade. This department of the pontifical administration was charged with the spread of Catholicism and with the regulation of ecclesiastical affairs in mission territory.

The Latin adjective propaganda, which is a form of the
gerundive of the verb propago (from pro- "forth" + *pag-, root of pangere "to fasten"), means "that which is to be spread" and does not carry a connotation of information, misleading or otherwise. The modern sense dates from World War I, when the term evolved to be mainly associated with politics.

Common media for transmitting propaganda messages include news reports, government reports, historical revision,
junk science, books, leaflets, movies, radio, television, posters, communication and print media. In the case of radio and television, propaganda can exist on news, current-affairs or talk-show segments, as advertising or public-service announce "spots" or as long-running advertorials. Propaganda campaigns often follow a strategic transmission pattern to indoctrinate the target group.
(wikepedia meaning)

My interpretation: propaganda is a teqnique used to have your say. Propaganda is used to get people on your side. To get them to believe that what you are saying is right and the truth. Different types of propaganda targets different groups of people. Propagana can be known as a tool to help people think differently. Propaganda starts from an idea. Than propaganda is used to believe that ideology. The whole truth is never told. Only one side of the truth is told. The language of propaganda is very subtle and inviting. Propaganda on its own is not sensational and dramatic. The mass media sensationalizes and dramatizes propaganda. Propaganda promotes coloqualism and uses a lot of political jargon. Propaganda appeals to emotion rather than intellect.

Propaganda Techniques

Assertion:

Assertion is commonly used in advertising and modern propaganda. An assertion is an enthusiastic or energetic statement presented as a fact, although it is not necessarily true. They often imply that the statement requires no explanation or back up, but that it should merely be accepted without question. Examples of assertion, although somewhat scarce in wartime propaganda, can be found often in modern advertising propaganda. Any time an advertiser states that their product is the best without providing evidence for this, they are using an assertion. The subject, ideally, should simply agree to the statement without searching for additional information or reasoning. Assertions, although usually simple to spot, are often dangerous forms of propaganda because they often include falsehoods or lies.

Bandwagon:

Bandwagon is one of the most common techniques in both wartime and peacetime and plays an important part in modern advertising. Bandwagon is an appeal to the subject to follow the crowd, to join in because others are doing so as well. Bandwagon propaganda is, essentially, trying to convince the subject that one side is the winning side, because more people have joined it. The subject is meant to believe that since so many people have joined, that victory is inevitable and defeat impossible. Since the average person always wants to be on the winning side, he or she is compelled to join in. However, in modern propaganda, bandwagon has taken a new twist. The subject is to be convinced by the propaganda that since everyone else is doing it, they will be left out if they do not. This is, effectively, the opposite of the other type of bandwagon, but usually provokes the same results. Subjects of bandwagon are compelled to join in because everyone else is doing so as well. When confronted with bandwagon propaganda, we should weigh the pros and cons of joining in independently from the amount of people who have already joined, and, as with most types of propaganda, we should seek more information.

Card stacking:

Card stacking involves only presenting information that is positive to an idea or proposal and omitting information contrary to it. Card stacking is used in almost all forms of propaganda, and is extremely effective in convincing the public. Although the majority of information presented by the card stacking approach is true, it is dangerous because it omits important information. The best way to deal with card stacking is to get more information.

Glittering Generalities:

Glittering generalities occurs very often in politics and political propaganda. Glittering generalities are words that have different positive meaning for individual subjects, but are linked to highly valued concepts. When these words are used, they demand approval without thinking, simply because such an important concept is involved. The concept of democracy has a positive connotation to them because it is linked to a concept that they value. Words often used as glittering generalities are honor, glory, love of country, and especially in the United States, freedom. When coming across with glittering generalities, we should especially consider the merits of the idea itself when separated from specific words.

Simplification (Stereotyping):

Simplification is extremely similar to pinpointing the enemy, in that it often reduces a complex situation to a clear-cut choice involving good and evil. This technique is often useful in swaying uneducated audiences. When faced with simplification, it is often useful to examine other factors and pieces of the proposal or idea, and, as with all other forms of propaganda, it is essential to get more information.

BOYCOT COCA COLA

TOASTMASTERS SPEACH

First step to success-Conquering my fear…

I am Humaira Omar and I fear public speaking. There I said it. Just as a gambler makes a confession I stand here today and I confess I had a fear of public speaking.
And I am proud to admit that I am now over my obsession of public speaking. I heard of this group who meet every Friday to help people like us and hey here I am in front of you and confident so this should speak for itself. Did you know that according to studies when asked what people fear the most the first was public speaking then came death? Could that be right first public speaking before death. Surely that sounds absurd. So that means that to a normal person going to a funeral would mean you better of in a casket than doing the eulogy. I’ve often heard people say ‘id rather die than give a speech’ my toastmaster leaders the nation is in great need of you as if I have survived then there is definitely hope for you.

This wonderful cure to my sickness is called toastmasters. A youth leadership programme, which helped me, overcomes my fears of public speaking. In the past extracting a tooth was more pleasurable than saying a speech. You know how everybody is born with a gift well lets just say that public speaking was never one of mine. Every time I was called upon to say a speech I would feel my knees turn to jelly and I felt the entire room caving in on me. And every time had to say a speech I would think of the poor kids in India who have to work 18 hours a day and do not have access to an education and even all that couldn’t help me appreciate the idea of standing up and giving a speech. I could never understand the idea behind public speaking. But that was probably because I did not realize how important eloquence is. I now know the importance of being able to stand up and say something that makes an impact and that makes a point. I now know how important presentation is and that we can either make or break it via presentation.

I have realized that personality is important and what you say and the way you say it speaks volumes of yourself. Toastmasters have taught me not only the importance of saying it but also the importance of saying it properly. Really I do not object to people looking at their watches when I am speaking. But I do strongly object when they start shaking them to make sure they are still going. So all of you looking at your watches stop right now:) yes I have learnt that it is s important to get to everybody’s attention and not to bore them to sleep.

Throughout the history of public speaking, there have been certain speeches, and speakers, who have stood above the rest. An example would be the Martin Luther King speech. When Martin Luther King said he had a dream the world that heard him all wanted to have a dream and today I have a dream. And my dream is to be a good public speaker.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank toastmasters for helping me overcome my fears and no more make a trip to the dentist more appealing than my English class. I would like to take this opportunity to thank toastmasters for teaching me the true meaning of confidence and self-respect. For teaching me that nothing is impossible if you make an effort. Today I realize that you should reach for the moon and if you miss its ok. You will land amongst the stars. I have learnt that in life you can either be a shepherd or sheep, you can either be a driver or the passenger. But it is up to you either walk a path followed or lead to a path that was never followed and you can leave a trail. You can have the choice and I want to be a leader. I want to make things happen.
I leave you with the wise words of Khalil Gibran ‘the significance of a man is not in what he attains but in what he longs to attain’

Even though this was an uphill struggle, and there were many hurdles to cross I now understand the true importance of breathing and the art of practice I am proud to say I am Humaira Omar. I came. I saw and I conquered…

LOG BOOK

Brief introduction:

My name is Humaira Adam Omar. I am currently in grade 11a. I attend Roshnee Islamic School. My view on life is that one should enjoy life. What’s the point of living life if you are too afraid to take any chances? Life is a journey. You should enjoy the ride and you can only do that if you learn to take risks. You never know . . . maybe it could be the best risk you have ever taken. Everyone has dreams. You should learn to fulfill your dreams because nothing comes on a golden platter. You have to work hard to make something out of your life. Don’t give up the first time you try. Every time you fall down, get up and try again. You will definitely succeed. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest. So start enjoying every moment in life. You only live once so make the best of it while you can. Don’t leave things for tomorrow because you never know if tomorrow will ever come. Stop trying to be someone you are not. Learn to be content with what you are. Nobody is perfect. We all have flaws. The key is to stop pointing out our flaws and start looking at our pros. Stop following everyone else. Start making your own choices in life. No one is ugly. Allah made everyone beautiful. We all are beautiful in our own ways. Start making the effort of being happy and happiness will come to you. Nothing is permanent in this world. We all are going to fade away some day or the other. Nothing goes with you to your grave except your deeds. So stop worrying about all the worldly things. It’s not worth it nor is it of any importance.

Good Night, Sleep Tight. Don't Let The Bedbugs Bite-speech

Good Night, Sleep Tight. Don’t Let The Bedbugs Bite.

The clock has struck 12. Everyone is fast asleep. Some are snoring. Some are even drooling. Have you ever heard someone say, “I sleep like I’m dead?” They are not lying. It is said that when a person is sleeping their soul is lifted out of their bodies so they are, well DEAD!!!

Assaalamu Alaikum. Today I will be speaking about the place where all our dreams are made and our wishes are fulfilled.
Dreamland by Lewis Carroll. When asleep, one has a dream where the most handsome, richest, sweet, loving and caring guy appears before you. The perfect guy that only appears in dreams because in reality it is IMPOSSIBLE to find such a perfect guy. Or a nightmare, where things with burned faces and creepy crawly creatures straight out of the exorcist are haunting you and that’s when “oops, mummy I think I wet my bed” happens. But it is here in dreamland center that we are reporting from and no creepy crawly creatures or people with burned faces can spoil our dreams tonight. No beds are going to be wetted tonight either. “But here, in Dreamland’s center, No spoiler’s hand may enter, These visions fair, this radiance rare, Shall never pass away.” Tonight is the night that no dream would be left unfulfilled. We shall try to make every POSSIBLE dream come true. That is what dreamland is all about. Fulfilling your dreams, but remember that every dream is only possible if you make the effort of turning your dream into reality. Nothing comes to you on a golden platter. You have to work hard to achieve your goals and fulfill your dreams.

You see yourself 10 years from now driving the latest car, wearing the latest clothes, parading the Dubai malls with the shiniest jewelry and everything you ever wished for. All everyone sees on you is Bling Bling. But only to realize that it was just another sweet dream. “The blaze of noonday splendor, The twilight soft and tender, May charm the eye: yet they shall die, Shall die and pass away.” But today I shall take that step, the step to success and make all my dreams and wishes come true, because tomorrow you can pinch me as hard as possible and I will know that I won’t be dreaming. I will turn all my dreams into reality because I have the power to make my dreams come true. This will be my destiny, my reality, my life. Sweet visions, sweet missions, sweet victory. “I see the shadows falling, The forms of old recalling:”

I believe that life without dreams is life without a purpose. Everyone has to have a dream. A wish that they want to fulfill. Dreams unify the mind, body and spirit. It provides you with insight into yourself and a means for self-exploration. So how exactly can one not have any dreams? Impossible.

I end off by saying: just live off your dreams. Start moving beyond dreamland. Reach for your dreams even if it means reaching for the stars.
Oh and by the way, sweet dreams to all.

Superstition VS Stupidstition

Superstition VS Stupidstition
“Thou art suffer ten days bad luck if thou doest walk under a ladder.”
Superstition is a false belief that only some people believe in and which other people would brush off as an act of ignorance. It brings about the knowledge of the future. Some gullible people believe every word of it while others think its pure nonsense. All humans are equal so how can one human have more power than another human being? If we all knew what was going to happen in the future than so many incidents could have been prevented. So many wars could have been prevented, so many lives could have been saved, so many diseases could have been cured and the list goes on . . .

The Romans of the Shakespearian times were very superstitious. They based all their actions on superstitious beliefs. They believe that if a barren woman is touched by a muscular man, while he is racing, she will fall pregnant. This only happens once a year at the feast of Lupercal. They also believe in predicting the future. The soothsayer told Caesar that something will happen to him on the ides of March, which we call the15 March. Some of the Romans also believe that a storm will bring trouble. Political trouble, as there was a storm on the night of Lupercal.

In today’s times people still believe in superstitious beliefs. They don’t believe in all the Roman beliefs, but they do have their own beliefs. A lot of people believe in reading star signs. They believe that all people born in a certain time frame have the same destiny. They all read the same star sign to it’s obvious that they believe that it will happen to them. People who believe in these superstitious beliefs are very gullible. They believe everything that they are told, that they see and read. A lot of people believe that breaking a mirror causes seven years bad luck, walking under a ladder is bad luck and all those other crazy things. The older generation is somewhat very superstitious. They teach these stupid beliefs to their kids and grandkids. That is how the belief passes through generations. Each religion has there own beliefs. We might find their beliefs to be stupid superstitions, but in actual fact it is what their religion teaches them.

Some superstitious beliefs are listed below:

Ambulance: Seeing an ambulance is very unlucky unless you pinch your nose or hold your breath until you see a black or a brown dog.
Touch your toes
Touch your nose
Never go in one of those until you see a dog.

Apple: Think of five or six names of boys or girls you might marry, as you twist the stem of an apple, recite the names until the stem comes off. You will marry the person whose name you were saying when the stem fell off.
If you cut an apple in half and count how many seeds are inside, you will also know how many children you will have.
Baby: To predict the sex of a baby: Suspend a wedding band held by a piece of thread over the palm of the pregnant girl. If the ring swings in an oval or circular motion the baby will be a girl. If the ring swings in a straight line the baby will be a boy.
Bed: It's bad luck to put a hat on a bed.
If you make a bedspread, or a quilt, be sure to finish it or marriage will never come to you.
Placing a bed facing north and south brings misfortune.
You must get out of bed on the same side that you get in or you will have bad luck. When making the bed, don't interrupt your work, or you will spend a restless night in it.
Bird: A bird in the house is a sign of a death.
If a robin flies into a room through a window, death will shortly follow.
Birth: Monday's child is fair of face; Tuesday's child is full of grace; Wednesday's child is full of woe; Thursday's child has far to go; Friday's child is loving and giving; Saturday's child works hard for a living. But the child that is born on the Sabbath day is fair and wise, good and gay.
Cat: If a black cat walks towards you, it brings good fortune, but if it walks away, it takes the good luck with it.
Photograph: If 3 people are photographed together, the one in the middle will die first.
Sneeze: If you sneeze on a Monday, you sneeze for danger; Sneeze on a Tuesday, kiss a stranger; Sneeze on a Wednesday, sneeze for a letter; Sneeze on a Thursday, something better; Sneeze on a Friday, sneeze for sorrow; Sneeze on a Saturday, see your sweetheart tomorrow. Sneeze on a Sunday, and the devil will have domination over you all week.
Umbrella: It's bad luck to open an umbrella inside the house, especially if you put it over your head.

My personal belief is: I think that it is stupid and utter nonsense. It is just a waste of time, paper, money and energy. No living creature can predict the future. Only Allah can. If we all knew what was going to happen to us in ten years time, than what’s the point of living. There will never be any fun in anyone’s life because we all already know what’s going to happen. The whole point of enjoying life is waiting in suspense to know what is going to happen next. If someone has to predict an incident about to take place in your life and it actually happens, than it’s just pure coincidence. One or two things they say might come true, but not every word of theirs will turn out true. Everyone has bad days. It doesn’t mean your star sign said that today is going to be a bad day, so it must be a bad day. It could turn out to be one of the best days of your life. How can someone who doesn’t even know your name, know your whole life? Stuff you don’t even know of . . . How can a total stranger, someone you have NEVER met in your entire life, know your life better than you do? Its plain stupidity, gullible and ignorance.
If walking under the ladder is bad luck, than builders might never have any good luck. They work with ladders everyday. They are permanently walking under ladders. What about people who work with mirrors everyday? Accidents happen all the time. Thousands of mirrors break in their hands, yet they don’t have any bad luck. They might have bad days, but that does mean that it is happening because they broke a mirror. It’s just an off day. That’s all. Everyone goes through such days.
Some people believe that seeing an ambulance is unlucky. How in the world can an ambulance be unlucky? Firstly, an ambulance is just a car. If an ambulance is unlucky, how is it that so many lives get saved in an ambulance? Some people believe that if you make a bedspread or quilt and you don’t finish making it, you will never get married. How can anyone’s life be dependant on a bed sheet? Whether you get married or not is dependant on your fate, not a bed sheet.

In Islam, it is totally wrong to believe in such superstitious beliefs. Muslims believe that only Allah knows the future. No one else has the power to see the future. Believing in superstition takes one away from his Imaan. Disaster and misfortune takes place according to the will and power of Allah. No other force or power can direct your destiny or cause harm to you without the permission of Allah. Allah is the only one that can decide our fate. No actions of ours will determine what Allah has in store for us. No action is done without Allah’s knowledge. Allah knows everything and sees everything. Muslims do not believe in star signs, palmistry, horoscopes, fortunetellers, astrology or any of these things. These people are normal human beings so how can they have the power and knowledge to predict the future.
Some people have this belief that nikkah contracted in the month of Safar is bad luck. How can any Islamic month be unlucky? What people are trying to say is that for thirty days one will have bad luck. The pre-Islamic Arabs believed that Safar is a serpent that dwells in the stomach of man. It comes to life in this month and causes various types of illnesses and diseases. Thus people fall ill more in this month than any other month. Therefore this month is known as the month of Safar.
Practicing magic is tantamount to kufr in Islam. Just as it is haraam for Muslims to consult with diviners or fortunetellers, it is likewise haraam for them to seek the help of magicians, sangoma’s and witch doctors.
"No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow." [Luqman, 31:34]
"The person who goes to a soothsayer and believes in him has rejected that which was revealed to Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam)." [Musnad Ahmad]
"O Allah! If in Your knowledge, this matter is good for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs; immediate and in the distant future, then ordains it for me, make it easy for me and bless it for me. And if in your knowledge, this matter is bad for my religion, my livelihood, and my affairs; immediate and in the distant future, then turns it away from me, and turns me away from it. And ordain for me the good wherever it be and make me pleased with it."

The Holy Qur'ân states: "No misfortune can happen on earth nor (afflict) your souls, but is recorded in a Book (long) before we bring it into existence; that is truly easy for Allâh".

The Holy Qur'ân states: "If I had knowledge of the unseen I should have had abundance of good and no evil should have touched me. Truly I am a Warner and a Giver of glad tidings to those who have faith".

"Say - No one in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah".

"Anyone who goes to a diviner, a practitioner of magic or a soothsayer, asking something and believing in it, denies what was revealed to Mohammed".

Superstition is such a thing that can ruin people’s lives. It can destroy innocent people’s lives. Some people go to magicians and all those freaky people and ask them to torture all the people who wish evil upon them or who they wish evil to fall upon. Someone’s peaceful life can be destroyed because of all these sick people and their black magic.
A person who does this is sick, but a person who goes to such people are mentally retard. Which person in their right mind would want to go to such a person who destroys other people’s lives for a living? No one has the right to destroy someone else’s life. Some people also kill themselves in the process. Others commit murder. All this “junk” just leads to blood shed and unnecessary trouble.

What is the point in knowing your future? How will you enjoy life if you already know everything that is going to happen to you? People look forward to finding out that they are going to marry, what’s going to happen in their lives and all those exciting things. What’s the point of life if you know everything already? How are you going to look forward to life if you already know what is going to happen next? How boring and dull would life be if we didn’t have anything to look forward to?
Life is a journey, enjoy the ride. Stop interfering with the laws of nature. Always remember: what goes around comes around even harder. The tables turn. You don’t want bad things to happen to you so why allow something bad to happen to someone else? Be a better person and make a good difference in someone else’s life.

Help Through Memory Lane

On a dark, rainy night, Humaira woke-up with a vision. An eagerness to create something to help the people. Something, which will be used for centuries to come. She suddenly had the urge to want to build a machine. Such machines that will help people who have lost their memories and people with amnesia recall their past. The “Memory Machine.”

Humaira went through sleepless days and nights trying to create her masterpiece. With coffee in one hand and the pen in the other, she wrote and wrote . . . ideas were flowing in her head. Her small apartment was filled with notes and scraps, what we would call “junk.” Little did we know
that these scraps are now helping the world in many ways?

Finally! The notes were finally making sense. Her dream project will soon turn into reality. Now, all she needed was raw materials, metals, wire and other cheap building equipment. Humaira had to leave her job to finish up this project. That was a chance she had to take. Every morning, Humaira would get up early and go to junkyards and factories to collect scrap materials. Most of the time the factories would give her their scraps for free as they were going to throw it away
anyways.

The time has come for Humaira to put her notes in use and build the machine. Months went by with one disaster after anther. It was practically impossible to build such a machine without the help
of modern technology. Yet, Humaira did not give up. She tried and tried until the machine started working. A months of hard work, her machine was finally ready . . . . but it was not complete. It lacked something. Something that will apply such a pressure on the human brain that it will be forced to remember everything.

All she needed was a microchip, which she got after a lot of hard work. Now, all Humaira needed to do was rebuild it with the microchip. After a few weeks her memory machine was ready.

In a few months time Humaira was worldly recognized. Her legacy was inaugurated. Humaira Adam Omar has become a legend. People were able to remember their entire childhood. Their
phases of growing up and every minor detail form the time they entered this world.

No one could believe that someone so young could build such an extraordinary machine with so little building materials. People her age are only starting to figure out their true qualities and starting a career. And here was Humaira, a teenager who created a world known legacy. She used all the scraps and raw materials she could find to build this machine. She built her
extraordinary machine from nothing.

It was amazing how an ordinary 18-year-old teenager became such a legend overnight. Over eighty years down the line, she is still remembered and honored for her memory machine. Hospitals have been using it for years to help people with amnesia. Humaira has unselfishly helped the world in many ways. May she be blessed always.
